Fruit Description

This plant is from the same family and tribe as Theobroma. The trees are short, 2-3 m tall with no side branches. The fruits grow on the trunk and look like tiny Cacao pods. The pulp is similar to Cacao with less intense taste. There is a debate about the species level identification of this variety. The owner beleives it to be H. Purpurrea, Jim West thinks it’s something else.
